Hallo Boris,
ich glaub auch, daß Morel die baut, hab aber gehört, daß die noch ein
"heat treating" bei Crane bekommen.
Zudem waren die Schachteln wo Crane draufstand bisher leichter zu bekommen und ich wußte, das daß was drin ist gut ist.

They did make a damn good ignition box, good roller rockers and remember they supply most other cam companies with the cam cores which the other companies simply grind. Not like they were sitting there just making rockers and old cams like some of you suggest. If someone doesn't pick up their machinery, metal stock, nitriding and other processes then many quality cores will cease to exist. Guess many cams will be from Chinese cores now. :-(

i agree with you; you can easy identify crane cam cores by the gold colour
between lobes. This is a copper plating for areas that does not need to
be netrided, invented by crane first for the automotive / aftermarket industry.
Several years ago almost every cam core had this copper plating - even my
preferred cam company - comp. cams used their cores.

I don't think always though! I think their cheap brown bag catalog camshafts and lifters were chinese material therefore they had such a bad problem with flat tappet cams going flat. In any case. Crane was and is a great company with good products. First to introduce "cheap" cams to the hobby too.

habe einen Freund bei Crane, wie dort gearbeitet wurde seit Harvey Crane von den neuen Besitzern geschasst wurde war prehistorisch, alle Maschinen extrem alt und schlecht gewartet. Hier wurde nur die Kuh gemolken bis keine Milch mehr kam.
John Morel baut die lifter nicht nur für Crane, CompCams und Lunati, bei keinen der letzteren wird auch nur ein weiterer Arbeitschritt gemacht ausser umverpacken.
ich bin Morel Händler und kenne John mittlerweile sehr gut.
da gleiche ist mit Holley passiert und CompCams ist auch nur mehr auf Gewinnmaximierung aus und kauft alle Firmen die sie kriegen können. Eine Vielzahl an CompCams Produktion inkl. aller Cam cores zum schleifen werden mittlerweile in China gefertigt. Die Qualität von CompCams Nocken ist mitltlerweile scheisse, am Spintron sind das keine Polynome mehr sondern Vielecken, habe mittlerweile 5 komplett verschliffene Nocken bekommen und vertraue nur mehr Mike Jones Nockenwellen. Auch die Übernahme von Edelbrock wurde schon erwogen
Über so Firmen wie ProComp will ich mich mal gar nicht auslassen!
