OSL Races vs. noise restriction - Don Leemker - 06.06.2002

Dear dragracers and wannabees,

When you are considering a visit to one of the Bitburg race days and you do not have a regular and valid license plate please take note of the following:

At the Bitburg track we have to work with a 98 dB noise restriction. This is measured at a distance of 15,24m behind the vehicle and at an angle of 45 degrees. The engine is than running at approx 3800 rpm.

If you would like to know more about this please drop me an email or reply to this discussion.

Regards,

Don Leemker

Some additional info on the subject.

The noise measurement used in OSL races is an "A" type. This type of measurement takes the limitation of the average human hearing ability into consideration. So waves below and above a specific frequency are to be considered as not part of the noise.

The other type is the "C' type. This type does not take the average human hearing ability into consideration but allows all harmonic sound waves to be measured.
